Mary Beth Haralovich

Professor Emerita

MARY BETH  HARALOVICH is Professor Emerita from the School of Theatre, Film, and Television. She focuses on how production design situates characters within a story, as in her essay “Honey, I’m Home!” on the realist domestic space of TV’s suburban family sitcom--with its unrealistic presentation of the homemaker. Her other studies include color in 1950s melodrama; geopolitics of location in I Spy and Magnum, P.I.; and the “scandalous females” of Hollywood films.
