Parking Option Details

All courses will begin on time, and we recommend that you arrive 15 minutes early to find your place in the classroom.

The Highland Garage is the best option for visitor parking near the Poetry Center. The garage is located directly to the northwest of the Poetry Center (1420 E Helen St, Tucson, AZ 85719) and may be entered from the south side of the structure at Helen St and Vine Ave. The Highland Garage costs $2.25 per hour from 5AM – 5PM (with a maximum charge of $9.00 per day) as of Jan 2026. Please check the University of Arizona Parking and Transportation Services website parking.arizona.edu for current rates. Currently, evening parking in the surface lots surrounding the Poetry Center is free after 5PM.

The Highland Garage is gated, and visitors will take a ticket upon entry. You will pay upon exit, either at the pay station on the east side of the garage near the cashier, by scanning the QR code on your ticket and using mobile pay, or by scanning the ticket at the gate upon exit. During the summer months (May through August) and every evening, plenty of Visitor Parking will be available in the Highland Garage. Regular visitor hourly parking rates apply. (Find current day and evening hourly rates at the UA Parking office website: parking.arizona.edu).

Please note that as of January 2026, the surface parking lots surrounding the Poetry Center are free to use after 5 PM.

Parking at our off campus locations, such as in Oro Valley and at Hacienda at the Canyon on the East side of Tucson, is free and close to the classroom. All students enrolled in HSP courses held off campus receive detailed directions and parking information specific to each location.
