JEN ROTH-GORDON is Associate Professor Emerita of Anthropology at the University of Arizona, where she has taught courses on race and social justice to thousands of students since 2004. Her book Race and the Brazilian Body examines racial inequality and beliefs in the superiority of whiteness and is widely taught nationwide. She is currently pursuing two projects on middle-class parenting amid anti-Blackness and on extreme heat and structural racism in Rio de Janeiro.
