IRINA PANYUSHKINA is an Associate Research Professor in the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research and a physical geographer and dendrochronologist. She investigates past climate variability and human history through tree rings, with recent work centered on radiocarbon spikes caused by extreme cosmic radiation. She is part of an international effort developing a new paradigm of extreme solar events and searching for Miyake events.
