CELESTINO FERNÁNDEZ is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Arizona, where he taught for more than four decades and served in multiple leadership roles, including Vice President for Academic Outreach and International Affairs. A leading voice in the study of happiness, he created the University of Arizona’s widely popular Happiness course and has lectured internationally. He has published extensively, composed numerous corridos (Mexican ballads), and holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from Stanford University.
