ELISABETH JAQUETTE is the Executive Director of Words Without Borders and a translator from Arabic. Her translation of Minor Detail by Adania Shibli was a finalist for the National Book Awards. Elisabeth served as Executive Director of ALTA from 2017-2024. She taught translation at Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference and Hunter College and was a judge for the 2019 National Book Award in Translated Literature. Elisabeth has an MA from Columbia University, a BA from Swarthmore College, and was a CASA Fellow at the American University in Cairo.
