ADELE BARKER, Professor Emerita in the Department of Russian and Slavic, received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from New York University. She has published widely on Russian nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature and on popular culture in the late Soviet period. She has received numerous fellowships, including a National Endowment for the Humanities and two Fulbright Senior Scholar awards. She has taught five Humanities Seminars Program courses and has won an HSP Superior Teaching award.
